Quizzes are sent out weekly in July and August and daily, Monday through Friday, from September to November. Their purpose is to help the official refresh his/her knowledge of the rules in preparation for various certification exams.
The source for these quizzes is Al Battista. Al is a long time, respected member of IAABO and a dual member of Board 215 (West Virginia) and Board 12 (Washington D.C.). He is the high school Rules Interpreter for Maryland and is on the IAABO Rules Examination Committee. In the professional game, Al is a staff observer for the NBA and WNBA.
Al also is the creator and editor of the highly-respected officiating newsletter, MATCH UP, and is co-author of “Beyond The Rules.”
