A-1 misses a three-point try as the horn sounds to end the 3rd quarter.  After the horn has sounded and the try is over, B-2 grabs A-2 by the hair and throws her to the floor. A-2 gets up and punches B-2.  A-3 rushes over to defend her teammate and takes a swing at B-2.  All five bench personnel in uniform on the bench for Team A run onto the court but do not participate.  All three bench personnel from Team B’s bench do the same.

Handle the situation.

A-6 enters the game during the time between two free throws without reporting to the scorer.  A-1 returns to the bench.  The officials rule a technical foul on A-6 and an indirect technical foul on the head coach for A-6 leaving the bench and coming onto the court.  Were the officials correct?

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

Blue #10 was fouled in the act of shooting late in the 4th quarter.  After the first free throw, Blue #3 and #5 are replaced for defensive reasons by #15 and #21.  The second free throw is successful.  The White team is whistled for a five-second violation on the ensuing throw-in.  Blue #3 and #5 go to the table and the timer sounds the horn for their substitution on offense.

Handle the situation.

1. A-1 is in the act of shooting a “5” foot  jump shot. A-2 is going for a rebound and B-2 pushes A-2. The try is successful. The center official counts the basket and awards A-2 “1” shot? T-F.

2.  Team A is granted an excessive time out. Team B will receive 2 shots and the ball at the point of interruption ? T-F.

3. A-1 the thrower-In has the ball at their disposal. A-2 is trying to get open. A-2 pushes B-2 off to get open. The trail official rules a team control  on A-2. Is this correct? Yes or No.

4. Incidental contact with the hand against an offensive player hand shall be ignored  if it’s attempt to play the ball? T-F.

5. When screening a moving opponent, the screener’s position will vary and may be one to two normal steps or strides from the opponent? T-F.

3. In question #1, A-1’s substitute must remain in the game until the ball is legally touched by a player on the court? Yes or No.
