A-1 is detected to have blood on his uniform prior to A-3 attempting two free throws.  A-1 is directed to the bench.  The coach elects to send A-6 to replace A-1.  While A-3 is attempting his two free throws, A-1 is cleaned up and is sent to the scorer’s table to replace A-6.  If the second free throw is successful, is A-1 allowed to enter the game?

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 is shooting two free throws with 4 seconds left in regulation. A-1 makes the first putting  Team A up by 2.  A-1 misses the second free throw. B-1 gets the rebound and tries to pass the ball to B-2 at the far end of the court. Ball goes out of bounds.  Official sounds whistle with 0.3 seconds showing on the clock.  However, because of the noise, the timer does not hear the whistle, time runs out and the horn sounds.  Team A rushes onto floor celebrating the victory.  Handle the situation.

A-1 is shooting two free throws with 3.2 seconds left in regulation. A-1 makes the first putting  Team A up by 3.  A-1 misses the second free throw. B-1 gets the rebound and tries to pass the ball to B-2 at the far end of the court. Ball goes out of bounds.  Official sounds whistle with 0.1 seconds showing on the clock.  Team A rushes onto floor celebrating the victory. They are then informed there is still 0.1 seconds to be played.  Handle the situation.

The 3rd period or 2nd Half begins with the same “5” Team A  players that ended the 2nd period or 1st Half. T- F.

2. Substitutions between halves may be made by the substitute or a team representative? T-F.

3. At 3:45 of the 2nd period or 1st Half, a free throw violation is assessed against Team A. Players B-6 and A-6 approach the scorer’s table as substitutes. Can A-6 and B-6 enter the game? Yes or No.
