Play of the Day #137 (2020-21)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

Team B is in the bonus.  B-5 is fouled by A-5 during rebounding action near the basket.  This is the ninth team foul of the half for Team A.  The Lead announces two free throws.  B-5’s free throw is unsuccessful.  Only one team moves to get the rebound.

Handle the situation.

Since the official mistakenly announced two free throws and only one team tried to get the rebound, this has become a point of interruption play.  Since no team had control when the free throw ended, that is, when it was clearly not successful, the ball will be awarded via the alternating possession arrow.

Very Good Play. That is why the officials need to work together, so they do not get in
    this situation. Thanks.
