The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-5 attempts to dunk the ball.  The ball hits the back of the ring and bounces up into the air near the basket.  While holding onto the ring, A-5 reaches out, grabs the ball and dunks it.

Handle the situation.


No player, offensive or defensive, is allowed to use the ring to gain an advantage.  A-5 has committed a technical foul for grabbing the ball while holding onto the ring.  No goal can be scored since the technical foul made the ball dead immediately.  Team B will be awarded two free throws and a throw-in from the division line opposite the table.
