Play of the Day #153 (2020-21)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 receives a direct technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct. The coach subs him out. Now as bench personnel, A-1 makes an obscene gesture to officials. Another technical foul is accessed.

Handle the situation.

A-1 is disqualified to the bench for receiving two technical fouls.  Team B will be awarded four free throws and the ball at the division line opposite the table for a designated spot throw-in.  Since the second technical foul came while A-1 was bench personnel, the coach of Team A receives an indirect technical foul and loses the right to use the coaching box.

Please note that the second technical foul should be ruled as flagrant.  This means that even if A-1 had not received the first technical foul, A-1 would still be disqualified.

Very Good Play. The actions of A-1 truly warrant the punishment and could cost giving
    Team B ( 6-7 ) points. Thanks.
