The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

Team B is leading 54-52 as A-3 is fouled attempting an unsuccessful three-point try as the horn sounds ending the fourth period.

Handle the situation.


A-3 will be awarded three free throws.  If A-3 misses the first two free throws, the third free throw will not be attempted since it will not change the outcome of the game.  If A-3 makes two of the three free throws, the game will proceed to overtime.  If A-3 makes all three, the game is over with Team A winning.

      According to the question, the foul occurred as time was expiring. So, no time would be put back on the clock.
