Play of the Day #236 (2021-22)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

During the last few seconds of a close ball game, A1 scores on a jump shot to put his team ahead.   A6 and A7 rush onto the court to congratulate him.  This occurs while B1 is trying to complete a throw-in to B2.

Handle the situation.

Although multiple team members have rushed onto the court, by NFHS interpretation, Team A is charged with only one technical foul.  This is not a fight or confrontation situation where each team member would be individually charged.  Team B will be awarded two free throws and the ball at the division line for a designated spot throw-in.

Very Interesting Play. We, as Officials, need to know this so not to assess two Technical Fouls.
    Thanks.
