The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A1 attempts a try.  While the ball is in flight, A2 commits a common foul against B2 trying to get position for a rebound.  The ball passes through the goal.

Handle the situation.

The foul occurred after the try had been released. So, this is not a team control foul since team control ended when the try was released.  Because the try was in flight, the ball remains live until the try ends.  The try ended when it passed through the basket.  Therefore, the basket that was scored is good.

If Team B is in the bonus, B2 will be awarded a bonus free throw situation.  Play will proceed as after any normal free throw.  If Team B is not in the bonus, Team B will be awarded the ball on the end line.  Team B may move along the end line as after any score.
