Play of the Day #268 (2021-22)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A1 attempts a jump shot at the wrong basket.  The ball passes through the basket.

Handle the situation.

The officials should stop play and make it clear to all that Team B receives two points for a live ball passing through their basket.  It does not matter whether the attempt was from inside or outside the three-point arc since three-point goals can only be scored at one’s own basket.  Team A will be awarded the ball for a throw-in on the end line near Team B’s basket.  Team A may move along the end line as after any score.

Very Interesting Play. Correct and We must administer this Play correctly as it could have a huge
impact on the Game, if improperly administered. Thanks.
