Play of the Day #310 (2022-23)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

B-1 commits a handchecking foul against A-1 while A-1 is dribbling the ball.  B-1 mouthes off to the official about the call and is immediately rewarded with a technical foul for unsporting conduct.  When the fouls are reported, the table informs the official that Team B now has 10 team fouls.

Handle the situation.

First, the official needs to confirm that the total number of team fouls against Team B is 10.  Assuming that it is, A-1 is awarded a one-and-one bonus free situation with no players lined up along the lane since that foul was the ninth team foul of the half.  After this, Team A will be awarded two free throws and the ball at the division line opposite the table.

Very Good Play. Yes, and we must be aware of the situation to correctly administer this
Play. Also we need to make sure that the table is correct on the fouls.
