The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A1 is attempting to dribble up in the backcourt.  B1 tips the ball away from A1.  During the scramble for the loose ball, A1 undercuts B1 and is whistled for a common foul.

Handle the situation.


Although the ball is loose, team control has not ended for Team A.  Therefore, the common foul committed by A1 is a team control foul.  No free throws will be attempted regardless of the team foul count.  Team B will put the ball in play at the spot out of bounds nearest to where the foul was committed.

    Very Interesting Play. Correct and We, as Officials, need to administer correctly as an
    advantage is giving for the Foul Shots that should have not occurred. Thanks.
