The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

With 12 seconds to go, A1 scores to pull his team within one point of Team B.  Team B allows the ball to remain on the floor making no attempt to pick it up.

Handle the situation.


We would normally allow for a second or so for Team B to begin the throw-in. Once this has happened, the throw-in count should be started unless there is an unusual delay in obtaining the ball.  In that case the whistle should be sounded and the clock stopped in order to retrieve the ball.
