The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 scores a three-point goal.  Immediately A-1 and B-1 begin jawing at each other and a double technical foul is ruled.  No free throws are awarded.  Since no team control existed at this point, the officials award the ball using the alternating possession arrow.  Were the officials correct?


The officials were NOT correct.  Although no team control exists immediately after a score, by rule Team B is entitled to the ball.  Since a double foul is a point-of-interruption play, the point of interruption is immediately after a score which makes Team B entitled to the throw-in.
