The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

During the final free throw by A-3 for a foul in the act of shooting, A-2 crosses the three point arc while A-3’s free throw try is in the air.  The ball passes through the goal.

Handle the situation.


Although the free throw has been released, A-2 is not permitted to cross the three point arc until the ball contacts the ring or passes through the goal.  The free throw by A-3 is cancelled.  Team B will receive a designated spot throw-in at the spot nearest to where A-2 violated.  This will be on the sideline.
