The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

Neither team is in the bonus.  During rebounding activity, A-1 is fouled by B-1.  After the whistle has sounded, A-1 intentionally elbows B-1 in the ribs.

Handle the situation.

B-1 is charged with a personal foul.  Normally this would result in Team A receiving the ball for a designated spot throw-in.  However, this foul was followed by A-1’s intentional act.  A-1 is charged with a technical foul for intentional contact during a dead ball.  The penalties are awarded in the order of occurrence of the fouls.

This results in the ignoring of the throw-in for the rebounding foul since another foul has followed that activity.  If Team A had been in the bonus, two free throws would have been awarded with no players lined up along the lane.  Then, any player or eligible substitute on Team B will be awarded two free throws.  Team B will be awarded the ball for a designated spot throw-in from the division line opposite the table.
