The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 drives to the basket. B-1 tries to block the shot and makes significant contact with A-1. A-1 winds up on the floor. The try is unsuccessful.  Words were exchanged between the two players. The Lead moves in quickly to separate the players and issues a double technical foul. A-3 comes and throws a punch at B-1.

Handle the situation.

A-3 is ejected from the game for fighting regardless of whether the punch landed.  The double technical foul is a point of interruption play.  No free throws are awarded for the double foul.  A-1 and B-1 are charged with technical fouls.  The free throws for the foul in the act of shooting is where the game was interrupted.

A-1 will attempt two free throws with no players along the lane.  Then Team b will be awarded two free throws for the flagrant technical foul by A-3 again with no players along the lane.  Upon completion of the free throws, Team B will be awarded the ball for a designated spot throw-in at the division line opposite the table.
