The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
A-1 and B-1 begin jawing at each other as they head up the floor. B-1 then intentionally shoves A-1. The officials sound the whistle and no further feistiness occurs. Handle the situation.
Assuming that the officials did not see the jawing back and forth, B-1 should be charged with an intentional, personal foul since the activity occurred during a live ball. A-1 will receive two free throws and Team A will be awarded the ball for a designated spot throw-in.
If the throw-in is in Team A’s backcourt, the throw-in will be from the spot out of bounds nearest to where the foul occurred. If in Team A’s frontcourt, the throw-in will be from nearest of the four designated throw-in spots in the frontcourt.
