Play of the Day 482 (2024-25)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 and B-1 begin jawing at each other as they head up the floor.  B-1 then intentionally shoves A-1.  The officials sound the whistle and no further feistiness occurs.  Handle the situation.

Assuming that the officials did not see the jawing back and forth, B-1 should be charged with an intentional, personal foul since the activity occurred during a live ball.  A-1 will receive two free throws and Team A will be awarded the ball for a designated spot throw-in.

If the throw-in is in Team A’s backcourt, the throw-in will be from the spot out of bounds nearest to where the foul occurred.  If in Team A’s frontcourt, the throw-in will be from nearest of the four designated throw-in spots in the frontcourt.
