The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.
The shot clock is running down as A-1 maneuvers to get a try off. As A-1 jumps to release the try, A-1 is fouled by B-1. The shot clock expires and then A-1 releases the try. The ball passes through the basket.
Handle the situation.
The goal does not count since the ball was not released before the shot clock expired. However, since A-1 was fouled in the act of shooting, A-1 should be awarded two or three free throws with play proceeding as after any normal free throws.
