Play of the Day #149 (2020-21)

1 Comment on Play of the Day #149 (2020-21)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

B-1 makes a great block of an attempted try.  After the block, B-1 taunts A-1 and is charged with a technical foul for unsporting conduct.  After the foul has been reported, A-1 taunts B-1 by clapping his hands in B-1’s face.

Handle the situation.

A-1 is charged with a technical foul for unsporting conduct.  This creates a false double foul situation since the two technical fouls were not at approximately the same time.  Each foul carries its own penalty.  The penalties are administered in the order of occurrence of the fouls.  Team A will attempt two free throws.  Then Team B will do likewise.  After Team B’s free throws, Team B will be awarded the ball for a designated spot throw-in from the division line opposite the table.

Very Good Play. We, as officials, need to know this is a False Double Technical Situation and administer
    this play correctly. Thanks.
