With 1.6 seconds on the clock in a tie ball game, Team A has the ball for a throw-in on the end line in backcourt.  A1 cannot find anyone to pass the ball to and requests a timeout.  The administering official knows that Team A has no timeouts left.

A1 is fouled.  The table indicates that it is Team B’s 10th team foul of the half.  A1 misses the first free throw.  At this point the table notifies the officials that Team B only has 9 team fouls.

A1 is throwing the ball in from the end line in frontcourt.  A1 attempts to pass the ball to A3 who is between the top of the key and the division line.  The ball deflects off A3’s hand and goes into the backcourt.  A2 recovers the ball there.  The official rules a backcourt violation.
