The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 is dribbling toward the basket.  B-1 jumps in front of A-1 and a collision occurs.  The Trail signals a player control foul at the same time as the Lead is signaling a blocking foul.  The officials rule a double personal foul and award the ball via the alternating possession arrow.

Were the officials  correct?

The officials were not correct.  It is true that, under high school rules, this play is a double foul.  However, it is also a point of interruption play.  That means that the team that had team control (Team A) retains possession of the ball at the spot nearest where the ball was when the double foul occurred.

Very Interesting Play. Yes, this happens. We, as Officials, should let our partner with primary
coverage have this call and if he does not then rule with what we have. Thanks.
