The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 falls to the floor while driving to the basket.  He appears to hit his head on the floor.  A-1 is slow to get up and has difficulty opening his eyes to their normal width.  The official informs the coach that A-1 needs to be checked out by an appropriate health care professional as he is displaying symptoms of a possible concussion.  The coach says that no appropriate health care professional is on site.  The official then informs the coach that A-1 may not return to play in that game.  Was the official correct?

The official was correct.  Whenever a player is directed to the bench because he/she is displaying symptoms of a possible concussion, said player is not permitted to return until he/she has been cleared by an appropriate health care professional.  If no such personnel are available, then the player is not permitted to return to play in that game. (References: Rule 2-8-5, 3-3-8)

  1. Elton

This is my first year with CBOA.

A1 passesto A2 from the front court. While A2 was in the back court, he is airborne and receives the pass in front court both of A2 feet are establish in front court while he receives the pass. The referee blows his whistle prematurely and calls backcourt.
Even though clearly that A2 has established front court status.

Should the referee had done an inadvertent whistle and keep Awith possession???
