Play of the Day #362 (2023-24)

The play described below is provided for your review and discussion. The rulings given are based on NFHS rules. NCAA rulings may be different.

A-1 has the ball in his frontcourt.  A-1’s pass to A-2 is deflected by B-1 off of A-2’s leg into the backcourt.  The ball is recovered in the lane by A-1

Handle the situation.

Since Team A was the last to touch the ball in the frontcourt, this is a backcourt violation.  Since the ball was touched in the lane, the ensuing throw-in shall be from the endline.  It should be remembered that when a violation occurs in a team’s backcourt, the ensuing throw-in is from the frontcourt of the team making the throw-in.  Therefore, one of the four “magic” spots needs to be used.

Very Good Play. Correct and we must remind ourselves about the New Rule (Frontcourt- 4
    designated spots). Thanks!
