During pressing situation in the backcourt, B-3 jumps and intercepts a pass near the division line in Team A’s backcourt. B-3 comes down with both feet in A’s backcourt. However, B-3’s momentum causes him the step into A’s frontcourt with one foot.
Handle the situation.
This is a backcourt violation. Although B-3 was on defense when he gained possession of the ball, B-3 did land with both feet in Team B’s frontcourt. While there is an exception to the backcourt rule for an airborne defensive player which permits that player to land in the backcourt, there is no exception to the backcourt rule for momentum.
